Amnesty International is a worldwide non-governmental organization that campaigns to promote all human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards.

AI undertakes research and action focused on preventing and ending abuses of rights to the physical and mental integrity. In particular, AI campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and other cruel treatment of prisoners; and to end political killings and "disappearances."

Amnesty International's vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all human rights. The Illinois State University chapter of Amnesty International seeks to continue this work and we ask you to support this vision. Act now and join! Thanks to actions taken by the ISU and Normal-Bloomington communities, political prisoners of conscious such as Kim Song-man* and Dr. Taye Wolde-semeyat** have been freed from jail. You have the power to help make that difference.
